Bowls trophy side
The Canterbury indoorbowls selectors have named the following team to defend the A. S. Paterson trophy (symbol erf supremacy in the sport in the South Island) against Southland at Kearneys Road on April 29: M. Watson, W. Trembath, B. Gray, L. Bellis (skip); D. Philpott, R. Ludbrook, B. Weir, G. Forrester (skip).
The following team will play Ellesmere at the same venue on May 3: P. van Oosanen, J. Dishington, V. McLeod. D. Earl (skip), P. Carson, B. Becker, W. Mclntyre, G. Finlay (skip); Philpott, Ludbrook, Weir, Forrester (skip); Watson, Trembath, Gray, Bellis (skip).
