Employment survey begins
The Labour Department will begin its six-monthly employment survey today. The information collected is essential for Government planning, according to the department. Levels of employment, vacancies, wage movements, and hours of work are included in the information that can be taken from the survey. All businesses in which two or more persons are engaged are included in the survey. The only industries not surveyed are farming, fishing, hunting and trapping. waterfront and seagoing work, domestic service in households, and the armed forces. The survey cards for the Christchurch district have been sent out and should be returned by April 22 Any outstanding cards will be followed up bv the department.
