No cover no worry -as it turned out
PA Hamilton A Hamilton dairy owner, Mr Ray Bodium, tried his best on Thursday evening not to hand over the contents of his till to a knife wielding hold-up-man — he had just taken out insurance, but had not yet paid the premium, he said. Mr Bodium was just locking up his dairy at 7.30 p.m. when he was approached by the man. “There was a bit of a scuffle and a lot of yelling, but I didn’t want anyone to get hurt, so I dropped the money.” The man picked the money — $583 — off the ground and ran off, pursued by Mr Bodium. However, as luck would have it an off-duty police officer, Detective Sergeant Peter Williams, was passing and saw' the chase. While Mr Bodium ran back to the shop to telephone for more police assistance. Mr Williams chased the hold-up man and managed to stop him at the end of a cul-de-sac. The police took possession of a knife and recovered the money. As a result, a youth, aged 18, appeared in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with aggravated robbery.
