Post Office building
Sir, — S.O.S. Save what remains of our Square. I suppose the next proposal will be to demolish the Cathedral and replace it with a high-rise parking building. Please use your influence to support the survival of at least the facade of the charming old Post Office building. All honour to the Historic Places Trust in their endeavours. —■
Yours, etc., (Mrs) AUGUSTA JAMES April 14, 1978.
Sir. — So the fate of another of our lovely old buildings hangs in the balance. Why cannot the powers that be see they are fast making our lovely Square the New York concrete jungle of the South. Hands off the Post Office. — Yours, etc., G. A. GENET. April 14, 1978.
