Kirk Road traffic
Sir, — May I congratulate the Paparua County Council and the heavy haulage companies, particularly sand and shingle companies using Kirk Road, Templeton, on their combined efforts to simulate, quite successfully, a mortar barrage. After putting up with this racket for some months, for up to 12 hours a day, I would like to suggest a move towards peace. Proposed terms for a treaty should be that the council attend to the road and the owners attend to their vehicles before the residents are reduced, to such a state that they must be treated for .hell-shock. —• Yours, etc., R. W. SMITH. March 30. 1978. [The Paparua County Chairman (Cr J. Y. Pethig) replies: “The lateral branches across Kirk Road which were excavated to enable sewer connections to be installed have, to a varying degree, subsided or in some instances retained a slight rise. This has contributed to the problem referred to. The. council workmen commented remedial work last week and it is hoped that the surface will be improved sufficiently to eliminate the worst of the nuisance.”)
