Service station plan declined
The proposed expansion of a service station at the corner of Idris and Blighs roads has been declined by a ; Christchurch City Council hearings panel. The station, built in 1969 in a residential zone under a specified departure, had not complied with certain conditions imposed years ago by the Town and Country Planning Appeal Board, councillors said.
Extending the station to provide extra car-parking would result in a size that was not compatible with surrounding homes. Some objectors said that mechanical work on large vehicles, buses, and trucks was taking place on the site; the panel was concerned about those activities.
