Badminton trials
PA Auckland The Canterbury player, Allison Ross, with two good singles wins at the week-end may have played herself into the New Zealand Commonwealth Games and Über Cup badminton teams. Miss Ross defeated Alison Sinton (Waitemata), and Mrs Sinton’s sister, Lyndsay Shirley, in the national trials, held in Auckland.
The nominations for the Über Cup and Games will be presented to a meeting of the New Zealand Badminton Federation in Wellington on Wednesday night. The trials were turned into a makeshift tournament, which was won by Mary Livingston (Auckland) with Alison Branfield, also of Auckland, runner-up.
