Indifference to fluoridation
Sir, — This morning “The Press” published a statement by the Christchurch Metropolitan Ratepayers’ Association. If the association desires its various anti-fluor-idation points to be answered it is assured of a polite, friendly and informative reply by the local branch of the ’ New Zealand Dental Association. However, the remarks and questions at. the end of today's statement are untrue, unwarranted, and discourteous. The dental profession, concerned with a specific area of public health, strives for the elimination of dental decay. The fluoridation of public water supplies, as has been ably demonstrated in Waimairi and many other areas in New Zealand, is a safe and
successful way of doing this. — Yours, etc., K. C. GILLESPIE, President, Canterbury Branch, N.Z. Dental Association. April 6, 1978. (This correspondence is now closed. —Editor]
