Boral has 37 p.c. of Australian Gypsum
( NZPA Melbourne Boral, Ltd, has been the -main buyer of Australian i Gypsum Industries, Ltd, (shares on Australian shareI markets. I After weeks of refusing to comment on heavy buying in | the stock, Boral has admitted that it had acquired 37.32 per cent of the mining and building products group. The sharemarket raid would have cost Boral about sAust2oM and gives it effective control of Australian Gynsum. Boral’s chief executive (Mr E. J. Neal) has refused
to say whether his company would. make a take-over bid for the remaining shares. However, it is believed that Boral will make an offer to the remaining shareholders. The expected terms of the offer are 240 c cash or a one-for-one share swap. Australian Gypsum mines the bulk of the gypsum used in the manufacture of plaster, insulation materials and portland cement in eastern Australia, and New Zealand. It manufactures plaster products, and fibreglass insulation materials for the building industry.
