Redundancy payments
Sir, — Mr McNulty is to get a golden handshake of considerable proportions because he loses an election, and this in spite of the fact that a highly paid job is already being .engineered for him by his union leader friends. This leads me to wonder what is going to happen after the next General Election; are all the ousted members of Parliament, and there could be many, going to be entitled to redundancy pay? What about mayors and others on substantial honorariums? Should they just be abandoned by an ungrateful rank and file after long and faithful service? — Yours, etc., PADDY FREANEY. March 3, 1978.
