Sisters Overseas Service
Sir. — A staggering amount of publicity has been given to one small organisation, S.O.S. Could I be permitted to point out that Christchurch has a number of other irganisations which for years have quietly and confidentially provided a service for pregnant women? These include Anglican Social Services, Methodist Centra! Mission, Catholic Social Services, Presbyterian Social Services, the Salvation Army, the Society for the Protection of Home and Family, and Pregnancy Help. — Yours, etc., R. G. HENAGHAN. March 3, 1978. Sir, — I was saddened bv the report in “The Press” of the so-called intelligent schoolgirls flying across the Tasman to obtain an abortion. It seems these girls are lacking in some areas of their education, if in these enlightened times they are ignorant of the fact that sexual intercourse’s prime purpose is for the procrea-
tion of children, so perhaps girls need more study of morality, history, and biology. — Yours, etc., (Mrs) MARGARET FRENCH. March 5, 1978.
