Lion leaders in cricket
Although he failed to score any points on Saturday, the Sydenham senior captain, Keith Thomson, remains the clear leader in the Lion "player of the week" competition. However, three players made significant inroads towards heading off Thomson. Peter Wallace (Burnside-West), Dayle Hadlee (Old Boys), and Dave Dempsey (Lancaster Park) were all prominent among tha points scorers on Saturday. Three points: Robbie Deans (Old Collegians), Glenn Bateman (Riccarton), Wallace Dempsey. Two points: Hadlee, Bruce Irving (Park), Richard Leggat (Old Collegians), lan Wilson (Sydenham). One point: lan Rule (EastShirley), Henry Sampson (St Albans), David Trist (BurnsideWest), Nicky Dierck (Sydenham). Leaders: Thomson, 13 points; Les Watson, Geoff Miller, Dayle Hadlee, Wallace, 12; Neil Francis, Dempsey, Barry Hadlee, Wilson, John Ruston, 11.
