New block at college
A new social studies and science block, which cost $435,000, was opened at St Margaret’s College yesterday. The new block, named after the school’s present headmistress, Miss M. I. Mullan, was opened by the Bishop of Christchurch, (the Rt Rev. W. A. Pyatt). The two-storey building is the first stage of a 12-year development planned for the school. It includes science rooms and laboratories, social studies rooms, a resource room and a recreation room for senior pupils. There is also a tiered lecture theatre. Finance came through an appeal called “Project Evergreen” directed at persons with affiliations to the college.
