Big scrub fires on Port Hills
Firemen fought for more than three hours yesterday to control two big scrub fires on the Port Hills, behind Coronation Hospital. The fires burnt out several acres of scrub behind the hospital, but did not endanger any property. Late last evening, firesafety officers were still trying to determine the cause of the outbreaks. The two fires broke out about 1.20 p.m., and four engines. from Woolston, Harewood, Spreydon, and Central stations, were called
