Abortions in Australia
Sir, — How can Erica Jordan propose that a child could be financially prepared for in a few' months? Fifteen years maintenance at least, perhaps more; and the mother, if she is alone, loses ground in her occupation, and is therefore worse, off. It is possible for a Woman to have a late pregnancy and. find herself still partially supporting that child by the time she is an old age pensioner. If Erica Jordan ever found herself in that position, I would gladly grant her the freedom of choice she would deny me. I would sincerely wish her joy and good luck, but her view' of financial responsibility seems to me so naive it would be ludicrous if it were not tragic. — Yours, etc.,
DIANA GREGSON. February 24, 1978.
