Man feared drowned
A police search is being made for a man in his late twenties who disappeared after going for a swim at Waikuku Beach on Wednesday evening. The police fear the man may have drowned. The man’s car had been found at the beach with his clothing inside it, said Sergeant R. G. Henwood of the Rangiora police. He said the man had had dinner with a friend at the beach and had then left with the intention of going for a swim. He had not been seen since.
