Fire service at New Brighton
Sir, — As a resident of New Brighton I would like to say that the New Brighton Volunteer Fire Brigade is equal to any brigade in the country, be it professional or volunteer. The brigade’s record of saving property and lives more than favourably compares with that of the “professionals.” Senior Fireman Stanley fails to state the cost of turning this most efficient brigade into a permanent station. His statements are highly exaggerated. —- Yours, etc., I. FRENCH. February 22, 1978.
