Kawasaki plans 1200 cu cm six
Kawasaki, for bo long the leader in the superbike performance field, has reacted to the big new machines recently announced by its rivals with plans for a 1200 cu cm six-cylinder motorcycle. The new bike is expected to appear later this year and be on sale in the middle of 1979. Some reports have suggested that it will be a 90-degree Vsix. It is expected to have maximum horsepower of
110 b.h.p. and could become the world’s first genuine 150 m.p.h. production roadster. Kawasaki let! the field with, first, its Z9OO four and later with its ZlOOO four. The recently introduced ZR is a snorts version of tlie latter model. The Kawasaki has now been joined in this capacity bracket bv the Suzuki GS 1000. the Honda CBX 1047 cu cm six, and the Yamaha XS 1100 four.
