Aust, trip for band
The Christchurch Caledonian Pipe Band will compete in the Australian pipe band championships, which will begin in Sydney on April 24. The band has previously competed with distinction in the Queensland championships but this will be its first appearance in the Australian contest. Forty-one bandsmen will make the trip. The band will give a public display tomorrow evening. It will march from the Caledonian Hall to Cathedral Square at 7.30 p.m and play for an hour in the Square before returning to the hall. It will be accompanied by the Christchurch Women’s Caledonian Pipe Band, which has been preparing for the New Zealand championships at Wanganui next month.
