Houstoun in U.K.
NZPA staff correspondent London The New Zealand pianist, Michael Houstoun, who has just moved to London from Texas, will record two Beethoven sonatas this week. Mr Houstoun said that after the recording he planned to “practise like crazv” for the new season in October and hoped to have a full calendar of English provincial hookings. His agent had tolc him that he could probablv begin some London booking? by early 1979. “It was wonderful being ir the Texan climate.” said I.'i. Houstoun. “Everything about
living was easy — too easy. I spent a fortune flying to London for recording sessions and meetings with my manager. “When I arrived in London, where there are concerts every night of the week. I I realised I had been missing lout on the stimulation and the 1 competition of an active | music community.” ■ Mr Houstoun said that he lhad a six-month visa for Britain which he could renew..
