Ruling sought in Ford row
PA Wellington The Secretary of Labour (Mr G. L. Jackson) has been asked to rule on a dispute that has stopped production at the Ford Motors Hutt Valley plant since Friday. About 400 coach workers walked out and threatened not to return until a union delegate was reinstated. They said the company had dismissed him illegally. Many of the workers left now face suspension because there is no work left for them to do. The union says that the! delegate, Mr D. Franks,! should not have been dismissed because the issue in-1 [volved was already a matter! lof long-term dispute. |
