Youths elude police
Christchurch detectives still seek two youths who were the subject of a big police hunt after thev drove a stolen car through the city at high speed yesterday. The car a yellow 1976 model Ford Cortina, was abandoned near Colenso Street, Sumner. Seven police patrol cars converged on the scene after the two youths ran from the car, and the Colenso Street area was cordoned off for more than an hour. At one stage it was thought that one of the youths had stolen a power boat from Sumner and tried to make his escape by sea. This report was later found to be false. However, both youths managed to elude the police cordon. Neither had been arrested late last evening.
