Suspension to be reviewed
The suspension of his horseman’s licence until after March 10 imposed on the Templeto’’ trainer, Cecil Devine, will be -reviewed by the emergency committee of the Trotting Conference at a special meeting to be held in Christchurch today. Devine has made application for a review of the penalty under Rule 62 (2) (d), which provides for the executive to reduce, increase or cancel such penalty after hearing the parties concerned.
Devine was found guilty of failing to obey instructions from the starter and failing to be in his proper position behind the mobile barrier at the start of the Ballins Industries Celebrity Stakes, a race in which he drove his own horse. Lord Module, to win. The regulations governing mobile start races provide for a fine not exceeding $5O to be imposed for any breach.
