Special correspondent Wanganui Purple Kiwi looked In the right order for Awapuni this week-end with a sound trial at Wanganui yesterday. The up-and-coming stayer is an acceptor for the 1600 m Killeymoor. Three-year-old Handicap. Working on the firm No. 1 grass Purple Kiwi came from behind to beat the promising Sunblaze over 800 m in 53sec, the last 600 m easily In 39sec. The roomy Awapuni course and a relatively small field should suit him. The steeplechaser, Mystic Dream, caused a stir when he reeled off 1000 m in Imin I.2sec, the last 600 m in 36.8 sec in defeating Slanemore. Mystic Dream, with a light lad up. was galloping easllv at the post. He is in the high-weight at Awapuni. Slightly Regal worked over 1000 m, being timed from the 600 m in 37.25ec. She failed to run on at Wanganui last time,, but looks in good order.
