Countdown for N.I. campaign
Greek Magic sprinted attractively in training at Riccarton yesterday, and if he shows corresponding dash against the sprinters at Nelson he will be embarked on an autumn programme in the North Island. He easily had the measure of Dellarca when they sprinted on the plough at Riccarton yesterday. He finished with a lead of a length and a half and ran his last (>oom keenly in 37sec.
If the Timaru Cup winner goes well at Nelson he will be campaigned at Trentham next month with, possibly, Easter racing at Feilding and I then a start in the rich Stars
Travel Stakes at Tauranga. Greek Magic’s January > programme was halted by a i virus, which affected his ■ | performance in the Southland Guineas, in which he i started favourite and finished fourth. !| The Wingatui-bound ,'Anthos yesterday sprinted ! • the last 600 m of an easy •1400 m trial in 39.25ec. He )' appears to have done well I since his fourth over 1600 m iat the Canterbury Jockey
| Club’s summer meeting, and ' should not be the least of I the chances over that distant at Wingatui. Murray McPhie will be his race ’ rider.
