Ambulances busy
Ambulances travelled further in carrying patients last December than in the same period in 1976. Statistics given by the Christchurch sub-centre of the St John Ambulance Association show that more than 34.000 km were covered, compared with more than 29,000 in December 1976. The number
of patients carried rose 33, to 2571. The number of patients from accidents dropped by five, to 183. and the number of accidents attended also dropped bv 10, to 138. Other statistics for collapses attended and miscellaneous accidents were equally stable, but industrial accidents almost doubled from nine to 16.
