Abuse as police clear bar
Bystanders hurled abuse at the police when a girl and three men were arrested after a brawl in Warner’s Tavern last evening. The four were charged with being drunk in a public place. They will appear in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. A big squad of police converged on the public bar of the tavern after the fight broke out about 5 p.m. The bar was quickly cleared. but drunken patrons continued to harass the police outside as the arrested persons were taken away. The hotel management had agreed to close the bar for the rest of the evening, a police spokesman said.
