The Department conducts courses in accounting, financial management, economics, social psychology, personnel management, industrial relations, public administration, marketing, advertising, quantitative techniques, development economics and other relevant topics. The University is seeking an academic with appropriate industrial or commercial experience who will have demonstrated the potential capacity to give strong leadership to the Department, and the ability to contribute to existing courses, as well as to develop post-experience and postgraduate courses relevant to the needs of accounting and management in PNG. The structure of the University is currently’ under review and it is possible that at'some time in the future the Department of Accountancy and Business Studies may be divided into two departments: Business Studies, and Accounting and Financial Management. If this should occur it is envisaged that the person appointed would become the Head of one of the departments appropriate to his experience and area of interest. The salary level will be that of a Professor K 20.088 (Kina 1 approx. 0.73 new pence, SUSI.3O, Australian $1.15). Applicants who responded to the original notice will automatically be considered for this revised post, and accordingly need make no new application. Allowances additional to salary are payable as follows: Married K 2300 per annum. Single Kl3OO per annum. In certain circumstances a child allowance of K 156 per annum is also payable and education allowance and additional fares may be provided for children being educated away from their parents place of residence. Other benefits include furnished housing (hard goods only) supplied at nominal rental, leave fares to place of recruitment every second year and equivalent fares to Canberra, Australia, each alternate year, and six weeks annual leave.
