Travel prizes to be offered at Addington
One of up to 1024 winning “owners” will walk away from Addington Raceway with a trip for two to Fiji in his pocket after the Metropolitan Trotting Club's summer holiday meeting on January 21 next. The all-inclusive Fiji trip, valued at more than $1300; is the major prize on offer in the summer holiday carnival promotion, introduced so successfully at this meeting last season. Once again, the club will be staging the meeting in conjunction with Trans Tours, Ltd, and, in addition to the trip to Fiji, there will be six other major prizes, sponsored by Air New’ Zealand, N.A.C., Trans Australia Airlines, Tourist Hotel Corporation and Mount Cook Airlines, as well as smaller prizes for every other “winning” owner. Each patron on the course by 6.30p.m., 25 minutes after
the scheduled starting time for the first totalisator race, will become the “co-owner for the night of one of the horses scheduled to compete in the six competition races. On entering the course, patrons will be issued with an “ownership” certificate for one of the horses competing in races two to seven. If that horse wins, the winning "owners”, and there could be 170 of them in each race, will have the opportunity of winning the major prize attached to that race. Immediately after each race, the “owners” of the winner will have to present themselves at the Trans Tours “centrepoint" on the course. The winner of the major prize attached to that race will' be drawn immediately and all the other winning “owners” can claim their prize then. Every winning “owner”,
regardless of whether he wins one of the major prizes attached to the competition races, will go into the draw for the big prize, the trip for two to Fiji. The grand prize will be drawn immediately after the eighth race. In addition to the Fiji trip, patrons will have the opportunity of winning return air travel for two to Australia, a week-end holiday at Rotorua for two. a week-end for two in Wairakei, a weekend for two in Queenstown, a week-end at Mount Cook | for two, and a week-end at I Picton for two.
