Higher pay on tribunals

Sir, — Where are all the union bashers and the antis now w r hen all the lawyers who are chairmen of tribunals are able to get $l3O a day and still say they barely have enough to cover expenses? They are controlling and bending the imaginary guidelines set by National for the good of those at the top of the ladder. What once had the elements of public service in it is now all National -grab. As Sir Thomas Skinner said. “It is all out Of proportion. There is no justice or equity in it.” Little wonder our economv is sick when this seemingly intelligent set gets a 100 per cent increase, no Questions asked. What union do they belong to that bypasses normal negotiation channels and gets a direct handout? Their contribution to inflation is noted. — Yours, etc., GRAEME STANLEY. December 12, 1977.
