C.A.R.P. cites 150 food price rises
About 150 more grocery lines rose in price during November, according to the Wellington branch of Campaign Against Rising Prices. The secretary of the branch (Mrs C. Kelly) said that this makes a total of 2150 grocery line rises since the price freeze was lifted in January this year. Among the larger price jumps were a 47 per cent increase on 450 g cans of Nestles Quik chocolate drink, a 28 per cent increase on 175 ml bottles of Jeypine disinfectant, a 24 per cent increase on Mono snap-off bags large 10s, a 17 per cent
increase on 312 g tins of Sea Casket smoked fillets of fish and a 16 per cent increase on 170 ml bottles of Vicks Formula 44. There has also been a 10 per cent increase on I.skg bags of Diamond self-raising flour, a 12 per cent increase on 500 g jars of Hollands Clover honey, a 13 per cent increase on 150 g tubes of Kolynos toothpaste and a 15 per cent increase on 425 g bottles of Scrubbs Ammonia All wax-wrapped bread loaves have risen in price by Ic, bringing the tcrtal increase since November, 1975, to 98 per cent.
