Socceroos relegated
I NZPA Singapore Australia will find it increasingly difficult to qualify for World Cup soccer finals in years to come. That was the grim warning handed out by the Socceroo coach, Jimmy Shoulder, after the Australian team were relegated to the World Cup backwaters for at least another four years through its losses to Kuwait and Iran.
“Each competition that passes is going to get harder and harder for Australia,” he said. “There’s no doubt about it. This time the AsiaOceania region has witnessed the emergence of Kuwait, who were non-con-tenders four years ago.”
