$4700 FOR FILLY
PA Wanganui The highlight of the first Wanganui Bloodstock Sale on Thursday was the sale of a filly by War Hawk from Mystic Dancer for $4700. The filly was offered by Mr K. Chell, of Wanganui, and was purchased by Mr L. A. H. Mason, of Palmerston North.
A yearling colt by Rich Gift from. Ann Mellay, on account of Mr I. J. and Mrs R. A. Best, of Havelock North, brought $2OOO. He was purchased by Mr Fenton, of Hunterville. The sale was well supported by breeders and owners throughout the North Island. There were 60-odd horses on offer. Yearlings sold to a top price of $2OOO. Other sales ranged from $6OO to $l3OO. The top price for a two-year-old was $l5OO and others brought from $725 to $BOO. Unraced horses had a consistent sale, three making $llOO to $l2OO, but there was little demand for raced horses, some being sold for hacks’ prices.
