Six hurt in bar blast
NZPA-Reuter Glasgow Six people have been injured in a bomb blast which has rocked a Glasgow bar. The police said a bomb that was thrown into the doorway of a bar in the Gorbals district that was frequented mainly by Roman Catholics of Irish origin.
The explosion raised fears of another wave of bomb attacks on the British mainland by Irish extremists.
“The blast was outside the bar and made a hole in the ground. It looks as though it was a device being carried by one person who is badly injured,” said a fire brigade spokesman.
The area was littered with glass and the pavement b 1 o o d-splattered, the spokesman added. The six injured were taken to hospital.
