Charles sick after banquet
NZPA Adelaide Medical authorities have confirmed that at least 22 people contracted food poisoning at a luncheon for Prince Charles in Alice Springs last Thursday.
Prince Charles was confined to bed at Windsor on his return to Britain and his engagements yesterday were cancelled. Three of his entourage are also suffering the same symptoms. The assistant director of health for the Northern Territory’s southern region (Dr Gordon White) said that either a chicken or a seafood aspic was suspected of containing the poison organism. He said the attacks took 24 to 48 hours to come on, and symptoms included severe abdominal pain, diarrhoea and the passing of blood and mucus. Dr White said it was not known yet how long the attacks lasted.
