Award to Boycott
NZPA London Geoff Boycott, who returned to the test cricket scene this year to tear the Ashes from Australia, was voted cricketer of the year by British television viewers. He was presented with the trophy during the BBC' television sports programme. “Grandstand.” Second was Derek Randall, hero of the centenary test in Melbourne, and third was the fast bowler. Bob Willis.
lan Botham; the Somerset medium-pace bowler who took five wickets in the first innings on his test debut against Australia this summer, was voted young cricketer of the year.
