Storm but a flicker
Lights flickered in parts of Christchurch last evening because of difficulties caused by snow on the transmission line between Roxburgh and Dunedin. The district manager of the Electricity Department (Mr G. Collie) said that departmental staff were having difficulty in maintaining the link between Roxburgh and Dunedin. Surges in the link had
caused flickers in the supply, and one line had fused out during the evening, causing a black-out in South Dunedin. However, said Mr Collie late last evening, the Christchurch area should not have any real problems, and subscribers could expect nothing worse than the flickers experienced earlier.
