RACE FOR 4-Y-O TROTTERS
A $5OOO race for four-year-old trotters has been included in the programme for the first night of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s New Year meeting at Addington Raceway on December 31. The event, to be run over 2600 m from a standing start, will be restricted to 12 horses and special handicapping conditions will apply. Horse on Cl and C2 will start from the limit, C 3 horses from 10m, C 4 horses from 20m, and C 5 and faster horses from 30m. The current crop of trotters in this age group is one of the strongest ever with horses of the calibre of Even Speed. Spartan Prince, Cool Cat. Power Cut, Pointer Hanover and Scotch Tar standing out. Others, too. are not far behind and a first-class contest should result.
