Big petrol spillage at station
More than 50 gallons of petrol spilled over the forecourt of the Blue Star service station in Moorhouse Avenue last evening after an accident while a tank was being filled. The spillage occurred about 10.15 p.m. while an oil company tanker was refilling one of the big underground petrol tanks in front of the station. The spilled fuel—which could be smelt over a wide area—was covered with foam from two fire engines. It was not known exactly how much petrol had been lost, but it was “a large quantity,” said a director of the Blue Star Taxi Company j (Mr K. R. Kane) last evening. ' The service station was (closed for about 20 minutes while firemen cieared the; area. The cause of the spillage; had not been firmly estab-1 lished, Mr Kane said.
