Wellington reporter There is no reason why manufacturers of synthetic detergents should be required to improve further the bio-degradability of their products, according to the annual report of the National Water and Soil Conservation Authority. The question was examined by a committee of the Water ’ Resources Council, which decided that present controls were adequate. ; It found that present biodegradability and phosphate levels of synthetic determents were both acceptable. 'No wide-spread pollution oroblems were found to reisult from either of these 1 causes.
