Racing timer killed
NZPA London The Australian motor-! racing driver, Brian McGuire, was killed yesterday in a : spectacular crash at the Brands Hatch international racing circuit, 40 km southeast of London. Two marshals, also involved in the accident, were fighting for their lives in hospital. The accident occurred dur- , ing a practice run for a Shellsport 5000 international race. McGuire, driving his own Me- [ Guire Ford BMI Cosworth, spun off the track and rolled several times before crashing into a marshals’ post, injuring three people. McGuire, 30. was married with a young family. McGuire had been racing in ■ the Shellsport 5000 series for the past three years. He won one race in the series last: year.
