Book-throwing regretted
PA Auckland An artist yesterday apologised to Mr W. J. Mitchell, S.M., for throwing a book at him last time he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court, at Auckland. Basil John Patrick O’Sullivan, aged 38, had earlier been convicted of using obscene language on the telephone, giving a fictitious message that a bomb had been planted, and resisting a constable in the execution of his duty. He was admitted to 12
months probation and fined $5O and costs on the charge of resisting. He was fined $lOO and costs on the charge of giving a fictitious message about a bomb. The Magistrate ordered that no fine be paid on the charge of obscene language.
Counsel, Mr J. Buxton, said his client had not been himself at the time of the offences. “He was under severe strain because of financial and medical problems.” he said.
