Fair seen by record crowd
Attendances at the Industries Fair on Saturday surpassed by about 300 Ute record of i 4.800 set last year.
There was fine weather during the first week of the fair, and 61,474 people visited Canterbury' Court, compared with 53,122 in the first week last year, when there were more'wet days.
Further high attendances' are likely if the remaining! six days are fine, according to Mr I. D. Howell, director of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association. Mr Howell said that! visitors were showing great! interest in the two display! homes and in three working; exhibits — demonstrating thej manufacture of jewellery, I blinds, and an aspect of i printing.
Exhibitors had been very satisfied with the public’s reaction.
