Mairehau faces fight in basketball
PA Wanganui. Waitara High School will be out to make it a double over Mairehau High School when the two meet in the final of the New Zealand secondary schoolgirls’ basketball tournament at the Wanganui Sports Stadium tonight. Waitara has gone through the two days without a loss, while Mairehau, five times national champion, has lost only one game—by one point against Waitara. Wellington East Girls’ College and Otumoetai College will play for third and fourth placIngs in the earlier match, at 7 p.m. Today’s results:— Selwyn College (Wellington) 37., Otaki College 52; Southland Girls’ High 48.
