Hillary sets off again
NZPA-Reuter Calcutta Sir Edmund Hillary’s “Ocean to the Sky” jet boat expedition got. under way this week with a four-day exploration of a tiger sanctuary in the Ganges Delta. The 19-member joint New Zealand-Indian expedition, expected to take two-and-a-half months, will involve a 3000-kilometres journey through often-turbulent water from the mouth of the Ganges in the Bay of Bengal to its source in the Himalayas. The journey proper up the Ganges will begin on September 1.
The expedition began four hours behind schedule from the river port of Haldia because the three jet boats, brought from New Zealand, needed what were described as minor repairs and adjustments.
