Wolves for Orana Park

Four American timber wolves found a new home at Orana Park last evening. The wolves are of an endangered species and are the only ones of their tvpe in New Zealand They arrived at Christchurch Airport from Auckland. where they have had a heme for the last few years. The director of animals at Orana Park (Mr P. Garland! said the wolves had produced offspring inf Auck-«

land, but they had not survived because the facilities there were not suitable. The zoo had felt that the animals would be better off at Orana Park, where their offspring would have a better chance of survival. Mr Garland said that a special enclosure had been built at the park for, the wolves. “They' are not aggressive towards humans unless provoked, but thev are carnivores,” he said.
