Fraser pelted
NZPA Sydney The Australian Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) was pelted with lumps of earth and hit on the head and face during a wild antiuranium demonstration at the University of New South Wales last evening. He was forced to run a gauntlet along a narrow path between thousands of demonstrators — estimated at 6000 by the police. Clods of earth were thrown from the packed ranks of demonstrators, and several hit him.
But he appeared unruffled and unhurt as he dashed into the building where he was to attend a dinner. Security barriers bulged as the demonstrators pressed forward, but security men hurled themselves at the crowd to press them back. One arrest has been made. Five hundred dinner guests broke into cheers as Mr Fraser entered. The demonstrators were just people looking for a cause, said Mr Fraser later.
