Gavade stars at Awapuni

i Special correspondent Palmerston North I Gavade looked good in his ■final trial at Awapuni | yesterday morning w hen he [partnered Peteken ovet 11000 m. These two are rival candidates for the Robinson Handicap at Foxton. On the course proper, Gavade and Peteken ran 1000 m, finishing clear of Totara Park which could not foot it with them at the end. The; 1000 m took Imin 6.85, the i last 600 mm 39.85. Gavade has a good record at Foxton. 1 | Secretin beat Shiloh over 1800 m in 51.65, the last 600 m in 38.6 s with Secretin 'galloping right away from Ids rival at the finish. Secretin shows promise but is badly drawn at Foxton. [ Gay Chief beat Dharwar (by a wide margin over 1600 m, the last 1200 m in Imin 245, the last 600 m in 425. Gold Foil, a top maiden chance at Foxton, had no [trouble in beating Greyfern -over 800 m in 555, the lasi ,600 m in 425.
