Regional planning attendance
Sir, — I note with interest and dismay (“The Press.” August 24) that some business at the Regional Planning Authority meeting this week had to be postponed for lack of a quorum. People comprising the Regional Planning Authority (cost to the ratepayers last year — $240,000) are appointed by elected bodies such as councils and boroughs to attend to the interests of electors. There are many important issues before the authority, such as the Indicative Plan for the future of the region. I find it appalling that interest is so lacking that not even a quorum can be found. Were this an elected body, this being election year, the story would surely have been different. Perhaps the councils and boroughs are at fault in not being interested enough in town planning to ask for a report from their representative' on the authority after each meeting — in other words, what about an account of stewardship? — Yours, etc., ISABEL TUCK. August 25, 1977.
