Squash ‘test' tonight

Two prominent Australian squash rackets players, Len Steward and Fred Howell, will represent their country in an unofficial international against New Zealand at the Christchurch Squash Club's courts this evening. The two Australians, who are in Christchurch to compete in “The Press" open tournament, will match their skill against the leading New Zealanders, Bruce Brownlee and Murray Lilley, in the “test.” Only two matches ■will be played. Lilley will meet Steward in the first, and then Brownlee will get to grips with Howell. The players are seeded to meet in the reverse order in the open tournament semi-finals. Howell is a professional, is top man in Victoria, and has won two tournaments this year. He beat Steward in the final of one of them. Rated as one of the best in Australia, he has been in the game for 10 years. Steward, an amateur and also from Victoria, is ranked seventh in Australia, and has won two opens in his state this year*
